2008 Overseas trip
Day 1 to 4 - Beijing

Day 1:
Took a long flight from Singapore to Hong Kong (3 hrs), then from Hong Kong to Beijing (3 hrs). When we came out of the airport, my mom asked, "Cold right? Now y'all know." Then some of us were like "No luh no luh. VERY HOT LEH." HAHAHAHA.

Rested in Chauteau De Luze!!

Day 2:

This is whr some communist stayed...i think o.o Apparently, i can't rmb Chinese names that well, and i wasn't paying much attention.. heh.

From left to right: Rufus, Josiah, Uncle Eric (parents' friend), Xiao Feng (guide), my mom, me, and Aunty Betty (parents' friend).

Not in the picture: My dad who's the camera man, lol.

PS. I look bored here, hahaha.

----------------

Next stop, gu4 gong1! The FORBIDDEN CITY!!!!!

I thought this was read as ming guang da zheng, which has no meaning to it at all -.-
We then frequented all kinds of "gong1"s, as well as the Imperial Garden, Yu Hua Yuan.
The tour bus stationed at a little street, and all of us sat in a 2-seater trishaw around this hometown of many old folks.

----------
At this station, we learned abt Feng shui, Pi2 Xiu1, and Shi1 Zi3. Uncle Eric kept calling it Pi2 Qiu2 (ball). Haha, now you see why Chinese is so important?? :D

We can't take pictures inside so we took them outside instead! I look unusually weird, LOL. Josiah's only in Sec 2 this yr. Look at his size... omg?

----------

The tour guide brought us to learn abt the silkworm. I learnt abt it in the trip last yr too, but the worm still looked disgusting to me. Ew... Last yr i didn't know what was in the the oval shaped thingy (which happened to be the cocoon), and i wanted to bring it home -.-

Us pulling the silk. We were to spread it out on the bed cover, but then Josiah let go and the entire thing broke -.-

While Uncle Eric's family decides on what silk cover they desired to buy, and while my mother decides on whether to buy her night gown, dad and i were boredddddd. And what does Janel do when she's bored?

L.O.L!!!

At night we caught an acrobatic performance in the theatre. COOL or not? Thr are still lots of pics but i'm too lazy to put them all up (:

My, what big muscles they have!

By then it was alr 9 plus at night, and we had dinner in Sentosa Restaurant. So amusing right? The owner is from Singapore :D:D:D

Day 3:
THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA! I didn't manage to reach the top. Firstly, it was bcuz we had only 1 hr to climb up then come back down. Secondly, it was getting steeper. Thirdly, nature was calling me, and lastly, i'm freakin afraid of heights. Haha, it's like i climbed and climbed and climbed to catch up with the others in front, and stopped to wait for my mom behind me, who was exhausted. So i turned around and it was then i went WHOAAAAAA! WHY SO HIGH, OMG??!!!!!!!! I got down slowly by the bars and the 2 fit guys just walked down with their hands in their pockets. Pfft.

Daddy's little girl.

------------
We saw how copper vases are made. It's a super long process and they need to be heated under 800 degree celsius to be um, perfecto?

Then we went to the oh-so-great sovenir shop, spent a lot of time thr but didn't buy anything. Tsk. Then smth happened. We realised Uncle Eric was lost, lol.....that blur king. He got so distracted by the sovenirs he lost sight of the grp. Of course we managed to find him at last luh, then got to watch a Buddha show. Sorry to say but everyone got bored. Lol... And the majority complained that the seats were too small, haha.

Actually pao wen quan was next, but most of us didn't bring our swim wear, so we changed the itinerary to foot massage!! A treat from the company for us. I knew it was going to be painful, so i didn't do it xD (found out later that children under 18 were not allowed to do so cuz our bones are still growing and not fully structured yet).

The guys went out to play basketball with the China kids, and i stayed in the room with the adults. Minutes of boredom later, Josiah came in the room and told me that a fight almost started with the China kids and the workers thr cuz the kids were playing on their land.
Went to take a look inside a glass thingy outside the centre, and thr were abt 20 to 25 workers gathered outside. The youths were outnumbered so they retreated from the area. Then Rufus played ball with the workers, whilst Josiah and i talked in the glass thingy o.o.

It was soooo cold in thr luh. I literally felt my hands and feet freeze. Josiah was like, "cold meh?" -.- Yeayea, girls will be girls. And we talked and laughed for duno how long. The 1st day, we DIDN'T EVEN TALK...2nd day.. opened up like no one's business, and 3rd day we communicated even more. Craziness.

After awhile when only one member of the foot massage centre remained in the court, and Rufus went to wash up, Josiah went out to play bball with the worker. They kept talking, exhanging smiles, and looking at me. So weirdddd..-.-

When Rufus got out of the washrm, he spoke to me. His bro first and now his turn, haha. I got to know more abt my cousin Varian from him, since we're not close. Talk talk talk then he suddenly asked me am i attatched. I looked at him like O.O... he thought i alr had a bf leh!??

We went to the official site of Beijing Olympics 2008 afterwards!

Bird Nest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't enter tho, we could only take pictures outside. Wah, when we took a grp photo, it was so irritating luh! At first my father farted so i evacuated ASAP, LOLLOLLOL, then after that Josiah put 2 rabbit ears behind me. Childish little kid -.-

We got up the bus and Rufus realised his camera cover was missing. Xiao Feng, my mom and initially suspected that Uncle Eric lost it cuz he was so blur, so we made him sing ANY Chinese song EXCEPT "tian mi mi" (inside joke) in the bus. Hahaha.
--------------

Day 4:
Umm..guess we had tea appreciation. My dad's pants had a big hole cuz it got stratched by a nail in the seat. Super super dangerous, but funny cuz we all could see his long johns. And thr's smth even funnier. The grp wanted to buy tea for a good price, so my mother began talking. She told the workers abt the hole in my dad's pants at first. Know what they did? They said sorry their manager wasn't around, and they gave one extra box of tea to keep her quiet.

Then she jokingly told them that she wants to see their manager abt this, cuz if children ever hit the nails, the consequences may dire. The workers got so scared, they provided a pee-pee boy for each box of tea. Pee-pee boy is to tell how hot the water is. It's rly cute leh. They supposed to give us one of that only, but we got 6 all thanks to my pro mom -.-
----------

Headed to Tong Ren Tang, whr we got to know the probs we're having with our body. Rufus was so proud that thr was nothing wrong with him that he told everyone. Tsk, i'm jealous.

----------
We went shopping for 1 and a half hrs at a large street like Orchard Road..just bigger! So...10 mins getting to the toilet, and doing our thing. Another 15-20 mins wasted looking for the other part of the grp, lol. Found them, and the adults went to buy goodies. After which we window shopped even more, and ended up in this shop called "Anything is Possible". Striking name huh. I think it's one of China's most famous brand but bcuz of GLOBALISATION, the Chinese go for other stuff.

In the shop: HAHA, i got NO IDEA why i'm smiling here. Josiah said i could sit on that couch all day long since i totally matched it. (Red owns!!:O) Dad said i can camoflague, lol.
--------------
We were urgent yet again, so the tour guide said she'd bring us to a five star toilet. This was what we got.....-.-

.

.

A 3 star toilet. Wow.
----------

Temple of Heaven.
Nothing much, but after that, we went to eat rly sumptuous food! And to end off, we ate the Beijing duck.
